From April 25 to May 1, Aarang 3—the third solo art exhibition by emerging artist Bivabosu—was showcased at Kolkata’s iconic venue, the Academy of Fine Arts. The exhibition was inaugurated with elegance and warmth by renowned painter and writer Hiran Mitra, who lauded Bivabosu’s evolving command over colour and composition.
Spanning seven days, Aarang 3 welcomed art lovers, fellow artists, and curious visitors into a world where colour spoke louder than words. Each artwork reflected Bivabosu’s deep emotional connection with his canvas, blending spontaneity with structure, and intuition with technique.
An Immersive Artistic Experience
The exhibition space was transformed into a realm of vivid imagination and thoughtful storytelling. Stepping into the gallery felt like walking into a personal journey—one marked by emotion, energy, and introspection. Bivabosu’s vibrant use of colour brought each painting to life, making his canvases feel almost alive.
What stood out most was how the works invited personal reflection. Viewers often paused, absorbed in thought, interpreting the stories behind each brushstroke. The interplay between colour and emptiness, suggestion and silence, made the viewing experience uniquely engaging.
Artist Rooted in Bengali Aesthetics
Though Bivobosu is professionally an academic, his heart lies in art, poetry, storytelling, and photography. His artistic language is deeply rooted in Bengali literature and culture, which continues to inspire his creations. The name “Aarang”, meaning “with colour”, reflected both his artistic philosophy and emotional worldview.
Bivabosu has also participated in more than ten group exhibitions and is deeply involved in the Bengali language movement and contemporary poetry circles. This multifaceted background added depth to his visual expression. Also read: The Dhunuchi Naach Fiery Ritual at Durga Puja
